# Uppväxt
Que'win grew up poor, earning his living by delivering messages and trading information and secrets with the rich nobles and merchants living in or passing through [[Restov]]. He was quite content with his profession, he didn't have to risk jail by stealing (a fate some of his cousins had met) and didn't have to break his back on some dirty farm. His profession also taught him much about different parts of the city. He saw both the abundance of the wealthy and the hunger of the citys poorest. Most of his wages was given to help support his mother and younger siblings, but when he earned extra coin he often used it to feed strangers living on the streets.
# Taking The Fall
One morning when he returned home from a night of work he noticed his younger brother was gone. He knew he was supposed to be home, so he decided to go talk to some of his informants to try to find out where he was. By calling in an old favour he learned that his brother had been hired to steal horses from a nearby farm.
Que'win immediately rushed towards the farm, hoping to stop his brother. Stealing bread or potatoes is one thing, but stealing a horse gets you sent to the dungeons! He arrived at the farm at nightfall and caught his brother in the act. He tried to persuade him to return the horses and return to Restov, but suddenly they heard the farmer coming in to check why the horses were uneasy. He ordered his brother to sneak out of the stables and took the fall for the theft.
At the sentence hearing (a poor youngling doesn't really get a fair trial) the judge wanted him to be jailed. However, the farmer [[Jarovic Skala]] objected saying that sending a strong young lad to the dungeons doesn't do any good for anyone and said he could really use and extra pair of hands come harvest. Thus Que'win was sentenced to help out on the farm for a full year.
# Life On The Farm
At first Que'win hated life on the farm. His body ached, some part of his clothing was always stained with god knows what and he really missed tricking some rich fool into giving away a useful piece of information. On the other hand, his living conditions had improved considerably. Jarovic was kind, he was given warm meals every day and the housing was comfortable. In time Que'win and Jarovic became good friends.
Months pass. During one dinner Que'win admits to Jarovic that he never intended to steal his horses. He told him how he chased after his foolish little brother and how he took the blame to protect him. Jarovic was touched by the story and asked if Que'win wanted to leave the farm and return home to Restov. To his surprise Que'win declined his offer. He explained that Jarovic had been good to him, even saving him from imprisonment and he wanted to pay it back by fulfilling his promise and stay for the entire year. Besides, he had almost been at the farm for seven months so what's another five? He had also taken a liking to caring for the animals and the farm, and he looked forward to learning how to plant the fields when spring came.
One morning a rider delivers a letter for Jarovic. Que'win accepted the letter and presented it to Jarovic when he returned home. It contained an invitation to a meeting at the castle, sent from [[Jamandi Aldori]], the leader of Restov. This was the first time Jarovic told Que'win he had a military background.
Que'win asks to accompany Jarovic to the meeting. Even though he have never met Jamandi Aldori before, he has had some dealing with servants working in the castle and he know how to adress nobles. He also wanted to check on his mother and brother while in Restov.
Jarovic agreed, and they decided to present Que'win as Jarovics apprentice.
